BPAA Boules – July 2017

The fantastic weather promised an excellent turnout this year and it did not disappoint with many more supporters popping in throughout the day to enjoy this year’s Boules Competition.

48 teams entered the competition competing for the opportunity to win the coveted BPAA Boules Cup or Silver Plate. The top team from each of the 8 groups went into the Cup competition with the runner up qualifying for the Plate competition.

Cup Competition

After winning the competition overall last year, Integral sadly couldn’t make this year’s competition leaving the game wide open.

Solid performances were put in by Queens Square stalwarts Gregg Latchams and Meade King, with other contestants at this stage being CS2, Gleeds, Nash Partnership and Zest, together with first time entrants Alec French Architects and Children’s Hospice South west and Zest.

Undeterred all teams fought hard to secure a place in the final with Gleeds making easier work of Alec French, and Zest putting in a similar performance against Children’s Hospice at the semi-final stage.

The final was bitterly fought by both teams with Gleeds losing narrowly to Zest to be the overall winner.

Plate Competition

Reigning Plate holders BNP Paribas failed to make it through even to quarter finals this year, despite their determination. The semi finals were closely fought between PG Lettings, Bond Dickenson, Hartnell Taylor Cook and TLT, with HTC and PG making it through to the finals.

However, PG Lettings made short work of HTC in the final, securing a swift victory and were crowned winners of the coveted Plate.

John Sisman, President of BPAA awarded the prizes to the successful teams. The sponsors Beach Baker, awarded the raffle prize which included items kindly donated by Averys. Proceeds from this event will benefit the BPAA’s charities this year, Children’s Hospice South West and Off The Record.
