Bristol property agents on two wheels for charity

Hundreds of cyclists from the Bristol property industry are to take to the roads of North Somerset to raise funds for charities – and are being aided by a top professional cyclist.

The property agents, their friends and families are coming together to take part in the third Bristol Property Agents Association (BPAA) Cyclosportive on September 19.

The non-competitive event will present four-person teams with the option of a 30 mile, 60 mile or 100 mile course through the North Somerset and Mendip countryside.

Phil Morton, senior director at CBRE, is organising the event. He said: “This is a fun event at which members of our industry get together to support charities. But we have a special guest this year -- Team Sky rider Jonathan Tiernan-Locke, who won four stage races during the 2012 UCI Europe Tour, including the 2012 Tour of Britain.”

Andrew Main of Savills, president of the BPAA, said: “Each participant pays £38.50 to take part, with the proceeds going to the CLIC Sargent and Wherever the Need charities.

“Last year over 300 riders took part and we are hoping to increase that number for this year’s event. The great success of British riders on the international circuit is leading a boom in cycling in the UK.”

The latest date for entries to the event is Friday July 12, and it is currently well over half full. It will start and finish at the Redwood Lodge Hotel and Country Club in Failand, and will be rounded off by an evening meal. All enquiries should be made to to

Last year the BPAA Cyclosportive raised over £2,000 for the Abbeyfield.
